David Fagan, retires as CEO of Cannon & Wendt Electric Co., after 33 years of dedicated service
Cannon & Wendt Electric Co., one of the leading electrical service firms in the Valley, recently celebrated the 33-year career of CEO and former-President David Fagan, a life-time veteran of the electrical contracting industry.
Fagan expressed, “While this transition has been carefully planned over the last two years, I will miss working alongside such an amazing group of people. Our company has been like a family; leaving that will be the hardest part of retiring. I’ve always looked forward to coming in every day and I can’t believe how quickly 33 years goes by.”
Fagan is part of the fourth generation of family members to have spent his career in the electrical contracting industry and leaves behind a lasting legacy. His regular board involvement in ELECTRI International, Federated Electrical Contractors, and Newport Industries has helped propel the industry forward on a national level.
“I am so thankful for David’s consistent friendship, mentorship, and everything he’s done for this company,” said Shane Snyder, Cannon & Wendt President. “Since meeting him many years ago, it has been overly apparent that his number one goal has been for this company to succeed. When he was promoted to president in 2011, he had large shoes to fill taking over after Albert Wendt. I can proudly say that no one could have done it as well as him. We thank him for all of his contributions and wish him nothing but happiness in his retirement.”
Cannon & Wendt celebrates David Fagan’s impactful 33-year long career with Cannon & Wendt as he reaches retirement.
During his career at Cannon & Wendt, Fagan served in a multitude of roles while overseeing some of the Valley’s most notable projects, including, State Farm Stadium, Gila River Arena, Talking Stick Resort Arena, Phoenix Convention Center, and the Terminal 3 Renovation at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.
Starting his career with the company in 1987, Fagan can easily describe his first job as a project manager working on the new-build of the Phoenician Resort.
Fagan’s retirement has been part of the firm’s strategic succession plan. Snyder, current Cannon & Wendt President, has been with the firm for the past 26 years and continues to build upon Fagan’s legacy as he leads the company toward continued success on into the future.
One of Fagan’s greatest achievements occurred in 2019, when Fagan and the entire company officially paid off the firm’s debt. As a 100% employee-owned company, this was an exciting achievement that brings continued benefits to employees through their Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
“David’s experience and leadership has brought us to where we are today. We have his leadership to thank for paying off this company,” said Bryce Goddard, Cannon & Wendt Manager of Preconstruction and Design. “The benefits this brings to every employee will never be forgotten.”
