McCarthy Building Companies recently celebrated the topping-out milestone for Casino Del Sol’s new Grant Road casino, located at 1055 W. Grant Road in Tucson, Ariz.

The new Grant Road property is a transformative investment for the Pascua Yaqui Tribe — bringing 1,000 new jobs and expanding the Tribe’s economic footprint in Southern Arizona. The development will feature a 154,000-square-foot casino, with multiple dining venues, and a 360,000-square-foot, four-level parking structure designed to accommodate 1,026 vehicles, and a surface parking lot for additional parking.

“This milestone represents more than just a construction achievement, it’s a symbol of growth, opportunity and pride for the Pascua Yaqui people,” said Vice Chairman Peter Yucupicio of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe. “The new Grant Road property is a long-term investment in our community’s future, creating jobs, expanding our economic reach and honoring our cultural heritage in the heart of Tucson.”

The new casino building will feature a lobby, high limit playing room, slots, sportsbook area, player’s club and table games as well as a food court, sit-down restaurant and a central bar. The property previously housed an old theater and boasts a history in the community as a location for entertainment.

A beam signing was recently hosted, whereby members of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe and community along with the construction team were invited to personally sign the final beam prior to it being hoisted into place. The ceremony honored and thanked the many hands contributing to the project and reflects the Pascua Yaqui Tribe’s investment in the region’s growth, jobs and cultural identity.

“The topping-out milestone is a highly anticipated tradition in the construction industry and having this event to mark the achievement of the milestone at Casino Del Sol’s Grant Road property was quite special.  Having everyone involved in the project come together in celebration of all that this project will be bringing to the Pascua Yaqui Tribe and the Tucson community – jobs, economic opportunity and an exciting new entertainment destination – made it truly memorable,” said Cody Wagner, senior project director for McCarthy Building Companies. “While McCarthy has had a wonderful relationship with the Tribe, building various facilities over the years, this one feels really special because of its location and all that has gone into making it a reality.”

Construction on the project began in spring 2024 and is expected to complete in fall 2026. Yaeger Architecture is the project architect. Key subcontractors include AmFab Inc., Sun Valley Masonry, Progressive Roofing, Berg Electric, MKB Construction, AROK and Cactus Asphalt.
