Primak Construction Group (PCG), a leading Arizona-based commercial and industrial contractor, is delivering the structural building shell for the new University of Nevada, Reno Indoor Practice Facility, a 72,560-square-foot single-story athletic training complex currently under construction in Reno, Nevada. The project recently reached a key milestone with a topping-off ceremony marking the completion of the facility’s structural framework.

PCG is serving as a design-build partner to Plenium Builders, the construction manager for the project. The all-new facility is designed to support year-round collegiate athletic training with a large clear-span fieldhouse and full indoor turf field accommodating multiple sports.
The practice facility will provide student-athletes with dedicated training space protected from seasonal weather conditions, while enhancing the university’s overall athletic infrastructure. Inside the building, coaches’ platforms and video observation areas will allow staff to observe, record, and analyze on-field activities.
PCG was approached by Plenium Builders early in the design process to provide conceptual pricing and structural guidance. Over a four-month design-assist phase, PCG worked closely with the construction manager and project design team to help develop the structural systems and refine building envelope detailing. Following its early involvement and technical contributions, PCG was selected to deliver a turnkey furnish-and-erect package for the building shell.
PCG’s scope of work includes a pre-engineered metal building, miscellaneous steel, roofing systems, insulated metal panel (IMP) siding and full erection services. The facility’s expansive clear-span design allows for uninterrupted training space, while the exterior insulated wall panels incorporate an intricate checkerboard façade layout that contributes architectural interest to the structure. PCG’s completion of the structural steel framework was commemorated during the recent topping-off event.
“Early collaboration allows us to bring meaningful structural insight and value to complex athletic facilities like this one,” said Lou Primak, president and COO of Primak Construction Group. “We’re proud to support Plenium Builders and the University of Nevada, Reno in delivering a high-performance training environment for student-athletes.”
