SRP Apprentices Excel with Top 10 Division Ranking at International Lineman's Rodeo

Two teams of SRP linemen and apprentices are returning to the Valley after placing in the top 10 of their division at the International Lineman's Rodeo in Kansas City last week.

Over the weekend, SRP linemen and apprentices showed off their skills and intensive training by competing against utility companies from around the world at the International Lineman’s Rodeo.

The crews participated in several traditional lineman activities, including a pole climb and a “hurt man” rescue. Apprentices were also given a written test and participated in mystery events. Rodeo training has been going on for months—beginning in February —when crews practiced on weekends to prepare for the rodeo. SRP had three apprentices ranked in the top 10 and six placed in the top 20 of their division.
